Casting Your Cares: How to Let Go and Give it to God!
Table of Contents
Sometimes when your heart hurts so much, you just have to let go and give it all to God! Casting your cares upon the Lord is easier said than done.
Disclaimer: Right now, in being honest and transparent, I don’t even feel like writing! Sorry, not sorry. Lol. But in being obedient to the Lord and my calling, here I am! I am not writing for the algorithms or looking at the word count to make google and all the blogging bots happy. I am writing for the Lord and simply pouring my heart out. I’ve thrown the editor out the door and just writing with the Lord. So things will look different here on the blog for a while until God tells me otherwise.
And honestly, I’m good with that and I hope you are too. Too often, as bloggers trying to make it, we get caught up in the legalities and technicalities of what it means to have a successful blog and that brings more things that need to be done and less time for good writing. So today, I say no more. I started this blog out of the calling God put on my life and going forward, no matter what it looks like, no matter how short or how long it is, it is for the Lord alone and those He will put it in front of.
Let go and give it all to God….
I know how cliche that sounds and how hard it is to even know how to cast your cares upon the Lord! But that’s what God’s Word tells us to do.

In Psalms 55:22, it says,
Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail).
Psalms 55:22 AMP-C
And in 1 Peter 5:6-7 it says,
Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you,
Casting the [c]whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, [d]once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you [e]watchfully.
1 Peter 5:6-7 AMP-C

But how do we cast our cares upon the Lord and rest in His peace?
Right now, I’m enduring so much grief from the loss of my beloved husband in July. I’m not the best person to tell anyone how to give it all to God and let go. Every day is a struggle right now and some days are really tough.
Learning to do things that were never mine to do, carrying the burden of an entire home, banking and financial decisions, lawn care and all the day-to-day tasks all on my own without him are things we never thought to discuss or prepare for in his long battle with cancer over the last 6 plus years.
Some battles have literally brought me to my knees. Like, a couple weeks ago when the power went out for over 4 hours. Having to figure out how to start the generator and ending up calling a neighbor for help. Or changing the filter in the furnace, changing tires on the mower because of a flat. All things I never thought I would have to deal with so soon (or ever).
The additional burdens are many and my strength is only in Jesus right now. So one thing I can say for sure and with utmost confidence is that without Jesus, I could not get out of bed and deal with any of it. Intense seasons require extreme joy and that joy only comes from the Lord!
None of that answers the question of how to cast our cares on the Lord and rest in His peace. But in the Bible, we can find the answers. And the answer is Grace & Faith!

The Answer: Grace & Faith!
In Ephesians 2:8, it says this:
For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved ([a]delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God;
Ephesians 2:8 AMP-C
And in Romans 8:28 it says,
We are assured and know that [[a]God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.
Romans 8:28 AMP-C
We did not do one thing on our own for salvation. Grace is a gift, something freely given, with no expectation of any return on our part. We can’t earn it. God gives it! We need to remember to give ourselves a little grace, too. Don’t do it all alone, do it with God! When we do it with God and His strength, we can have faith in knowing He has it all under control, even when it looks like it’s all out of control.
Faith is knowing God has a plan and a purpose no matter what it looks like in the natural. We can’t always see what God is doing on our behalf in the supernatural, but we can rest easy knowing He knows all and He will work it out for our good. Painful emotional struggles always require faith and trust in God!

Does that mean we are to not worry?
Yes! The Bible says not to worry about tomorrow. When we worry, we are not living by faith!
In Matthew 6:34 it says,
So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.
Matthew 6:34 AMP-C
I know that is so hard; I am living it every day right now. When I find myself worrying over things, I repent and give it to God. God knows we are not perfect; He knows we are prone to worry over things we can’t control. That is why He gave us His Word and our prayer language.
The most important thing we can do to give it all to God is pray! Develop a deep relationship with the Father through prayer and worship. Worship is our warfare and that, along with prayer, is a mighty weapon against worry.
When I am having a rough day with grief and loss, stress and dealing with all the things on my own. I get out my worship flags and put on worship music, add in prayers and declare the Word of God. Can I just tell you until you try it, you will never know the abundance of peace it brings?
So today I just want to encourage you that no matter what you are going through, no matter what you are dealing with, God is working it out for your good and His divine purpose. He has it under control. Put on worship music or just declare out the Word of God and praise Him amid the mess. Call on His name and He will give you peace and joy.
I love you, my friend, and I pray you can enter the secret place with the Father and let His abundant love and peace wash over you today.
Let me know how this spoke to you today and share on your favorite social media to encourage someone else.
Love & Hugs,
