Bible Review: Evangelical Study Bible by Thomas Nelson

The NKJV Evangelical Study Bible is a new large print study Bible from Thomas Nelson Bibles. The Evangelical Study Bible is a beautiful Bible full of features. It is Christ-centered, Faith building and Mission Focused. The concept of this new study Bible is simply this: As Christians, our calling transcends cultural perspectives and personal opinions. Instead, God’s Word urges us to align our lives with the truth and recognize that it brings true freedom (John 8:32).

Honesty in my review:

I honestly found nothing negative in this new Bible. I love so many things about it and how it is so easy to read and the layout is perfect for a more in-depth study of the truth of God’s Word. The only thing I found was one error, which is obviously a typo in one of the context boxes. And I am not highlighting this error negatively but to simply to give an honest review.

The typo is on page 1689 of the hardback edition I received in a personality profile context box at the bottom of the page where it states: “Martha is remembered for her act of anointing Christ in anticipation of His death and is a lasting memorial to her (See Mark 14:9).”

We know from scripture that it was in fact Mary who anointed the feet of Jesus, not Martha. This slight error was in fact not in the scriptural text itself, but in a personality profile context box for study help. Typos happen to the best of us, so we don’t need to hold that against the publishers who I am sure are already hard at work to correct the error.

Otherwise, the copy I received is very in depth and well laid out, easy to read and comprehend. There are so many verse-by-verse commentary notes, you will have a wealth of valuable information at your fingertips to enhance your Bible study time.

For further information, I have included the publishers’ own description below.
